An international cross-sectional survey to evaluate patient outcomes in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage survivors
Patient-perceived outcomes were evaluated based on survey responses from 355 aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) survivors, family members and caregivers, and compared against the modified Rankin Scale (mRS).
Agreement between self-assessed outcome and their mRS score was poor (Kappa 0.26 [CI 0.14–0.39]), with 30% of respondents feeling that the mRS scores should not be used as a future research outcome measure.
Authors suggested that patient-centered outcome measurement tools would be needed to guide any future aSAH research.
