Uptake of telemedicine in stroke outpatient care

  • In a retrospective analysis of medical records of individuals following stroke, telemedicine accounted for 90% of total outpatient visits and usage was higher among individuals with private medical insurance rather than Medicaid (P<0.001).
  • Race played a role in telemedicine uptake. Black (P<0.001) and Hispanic (P=0.005) patients had approximately 10% lower uptake of video telemedicine than Asian and White patients.
