Virtual test of spatial navigation may help identify early Alzheimer’s disease

A test of visuospatial navigation skill in a virtual environment may help identify early forms of dementia, according to researchers in the Czech Republic.

Impaired spatial navigation and visuospatial functioning are common in patients with early Alzheimer’s disease (AD), the researchers noted. They conducted a study to determine whether assessment of spatial navigation performance could differentiate between typical and atypical aging.
